Located to the north of Washington D.C., Chevy Chase is both a town and an unincorporated area in Maryland. Chevy Chase is primarily a residential neighborhood with many beautiful, sizable homes that make up the pleasant, suburban feel.
Chevy Chase was once farmland up until the 1900’s. It was Senator Francis G. Newlands of Nevada who had begun purchasing land there with efforts to create a suburb of D.C. accessed by streetcar making transportation easy for city workers. Homes were first built and offered for $3,000 and up. The same developers created the manmade lake “Chevy Chase Lake” which was designed for swimming, boating and recreational enjoyment.
